I don't know the age of this beautiful button, but believe it is vintage, or even antique. A fine quality porcelain painted with enamels. Measuring a hair under 3/4" & has an oblong self shank that has an unglazed top and has a small needle hole. It looks to me as though the flowers were painted first and then the blue background. IN GOOD CONDITION w A TINY GLITCH AT THE TOP NEAR THE 1 O'CLOCK POSITION. NOT A CHIP -- I THINK IT IS A MANUFACTURING FLAW. THE BLUE HAS SOME AREAS THAT LOOK A LITTLE DIRTY WHEN LOOKED AT CLOSELY. $15

Probably dating to the 1950's, & measuring 13/16" x 11/16" NBS Med, here we have a wonderful example of the artistry of the porcelain Arita buttons made by Toshikane China. This foo dog was on a card of 6 and has the original paperwork with it. It has a trademark and "JAPAN" on the back. It has a self shank. You are buying one button. I want to keep the paperwork with the other 5 buttons. Excellent Condition! $75

Signed and numbered #15. This studio button was painted and issued in memory of M. W. "Freddie" Speights in 2003 by Linda K. Ellison. It measures 2 & 1/8" x 1 & 11/16" NBS Large and has an applied plastic shank. It features a circus ring master with his hoop and whip, and his little terrier dog. In very good condition! $10

Dating from the Victorian late 1800's to early 1900's, and measuring 1 & 5/16" NBS Medium, here we have a porcelain button featuring white daisies on a green grassy background. It has a gold painted border. A self molded shank. These buttons were painted by the Victorian ladies as a past-time similar to their other past-times such as needle work and other china painting. In very good condition! $12

This convex button is of a white earthenware type ceramic and has hand painted Indian-like designs under glaze. The colors used are black, dark blue, green and a reddish color. It measures 11/16" and has a molded self shank. The button is in good condition, except for an area of the shank that is unglazed. It has light crazing in the glaze, but I think that's normal. $10.

I found similar buttons shown in the National Button Bulletin, July 2009. The author states that the buttons shown in the bulletin were purchased in Lima, Peru.

Dating from the 1990's and measuring 1" NBS Medium, here we have a hand painted porcelain button by studio artist Joyce Hendrickson. It features the painted head of a Teddy Bear. He sure is a cuddly sweet looking bear! It's signed by the artist on the reverse, "JH" and has a self shank. In very good condition! $8

This oval shaped porcelain button measures 1-7/16" x 1-1/16" NBS Large and is signed on the back "Shirley '88". I believe that is Shirley Shaw, the studio button artist. It's a molded button featuring pink tulips and green leaves on a white background. Very pretty! The colors are a little softer pink in real life. In very good condition! $15

This porcelain button probably dating from the late 1800's to early 1900's, and measures 15/16" NBS Medium. It's a beautiful scene of a couple wearing early 1800's clothing. I believe it to be handpainted, although it could be a transfer with handpainting added. The border is painted with a fancy scrolled design in heavy gold paint. In good condition, although there is some normal minor wear to the paint on the couple. It has a molded self shank. $30

From the mid 1900's, & measuring 1-3/16" NBS Medium, a Japanese Satsuma Pottery button w hanging wisteria blossoms. It has the unglazed shank typical of Satsuma buttons. In very good condition. The piece of lint on the edge of the back of the button when I scanned, is gone now.
