Probably dating from the mid - late 1800's & measuring 13/16" x 9/16" NBS Medium, I believe that the image on this button was chemically painted on a fire polished surface. It appears to be a sphinx-like figure w wings. It has a molded shank with a needle hole that appears to have been drilled. The upper right corner has a small chip, otherwise it's in good condition. $12
