This is a very finely painted enamel on silver button featuring a Saint. It measures 1 & 1/8" NBS Med.. It is counter enameled. When I purchased it in an antique shop, I was told that it came off a Pope's robe. There's no proof of that. It could be Motiwala. When we found it we were dismayed to see that the loop part of the shank was broken off. Only the post remained. We decided to purchase it anyway, and have it restored to it's original purpose. A jeweler devised a new sterling loop and a sheath to fit over the existing post. THERE IS SOME LIGHT PEPPERING THAT ISN'T TOO NOTICEABLE IN REAL LIFE, AND DOESN'T DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY. THE COUNTER ENAMELING ON THE BACK HAS SOME FLAWS. $300
